Introducing Winston Churchill Essay Topics
Introducing Winston Churchill Essay TopicsBy providing sample essays to help students learn Winston Churchill, authors of the resource guide are effectively using the type of essay topics that they believe will be most effective in the classroom. Reading through some of the ideas and concepts provided, I was very pleased with the lesson content. This is a lesson designed to guide teachers in helping students discover just how diverse Winston Churchill really was, and I have to say, I found a lot of this stuff to be very engaging. For example, I really enjoyed how the authors give us examples of how to re-imagine the source document and get the student's interest back, all while demonstrating several ways the historical figure fits into the context of the world of his time. This can be done by explaining how Churchill was well known for his striking good looks and then reading several biographies where we see these same features demonstrated in action. By doing this, I was able to reme mber what I had learned about the writer. The authors also provide one nice touch of illustration by showing what could happen if you were not the best looking man in town. We then read about a famous 'pimp' named Caesar G. Conklin, who worked for Winston Churchill in the late 1920s and early 1930s. After realizing that the people associated with Churchill also had their own problems with money, the pimp went onto start his own business as he tried to make more of a fortune than what he got.Using the same characters from the source document, the lesson then shows how all of the men worked together to fight off three different aliens in space. This was done through various battles, which they had to take part in with lots of challenges, leaving many of them dead or wounded. The lesson shows how sometimes they would even lose communication, and this led to their deaths. The lesson ends with an explanation of how the source document was based on an actual story. Not only did the authors show us this, but I found the last part of the lesson very educational as well. I really liked that they explained how history repeats itself, and that while individuals may survive, they often do not succeed, in the end.The authors of the guide provide excellent essay topics and examples. I believe that teachers will really benefit from the lesson plan provided in the guide.Parents who are currently teaching kids are likely already familiar with lesson plans like this. This is a great way to include some challenge in the daily classroom routine for children.Overall, I really liked the lesson plans and the resources included. The lesson outline and sample essays are set up to fit many teaching styles, and they can be very useful to many different types of educators. I think teachers will really appreciate the inclusion of several sample essay topics, and I am sure Winston Churchill fans will enjoy the reference materials and essay topic options as well.
